Guiding Principles

Future Assets embraces an eclectic approach to early childhood development and education. Our program encompasses methods prescribed by various teaching models. We incorporate what we feel are the best methods of each model into our program as they fit our philosophy of child development and early childhood education.

Our school follows guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Their standards require teachers to employ developmentally and age appropriate practices with each child. We believe that all children learn best through play. Each teacher facilitates learning through interesting and engaging planned activities. The children enjoy their “play” while they are meeting goals set forth for them. Teachers are flexible and sensitive to needed change in curricula (based on the needs and interests of the children).

We believe that young children do not really learn through a rote approach, employing techniques such as worksheets and drill skills. Real learning is achieved when children are taught meaning instead of result and the emphasis is on process instead of product.

Our job as educators is to understand each child for whom they are and nurture all aspects of their development -- physical, cognitive, creative, social, and emotional. Experienced teachers incorporate these areas of growth and development into their daily lesson plans in appropriate and attainable ways. We pride ourselves on allowing the "whole" child to manifest fully and safely, according to individual needs and abilities in his or her own time. It is essential that children be permitted to flourish and thrive in a stimulating and challenging environment.

Our curriculum encourages exploration, self-discovery, and self-mastery in the learning process. It is hands-on, child-centered, and process-oriented. It is our goal for children to leave Future Assets as critical thinkers and problem solvers. They will learn to acquire, assimilate, and apply knowledge.

Only parents can decide what is appropriate for their children. Future Assets may not be the center for every parent, but we feel we have something to offer every child. If you are looking for a school to teach your child to color inside the lines or to learn through memorization, this is not the school for you. If you are looking for a school to provide your child with the tools (s)he will need to become a successful adult, then Future Assets is the right choice. We will empower your child with the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully, communicate well, be autonomous, possess emotional intelligence, social and life skills, and a value system based on respect.

It is our hope to equip each child with the essentials needed to live happily, possess a hunger for knowledge, and a love of life. In striving for these goals, we know we are doing our very best. Investing in Future Assets is an investment in your child's future.
